4 Years Old!

Better late than never!  Remy turned 4 years old on October 2nd.  I can’t believe my first baby is already 4 years old!  Remy had a ninja turtle themed birthday party.  He’s currently obsessed with ninja turtles, super heroes and Legos.  We had a little party at the house and then on his actual birthday we took him to Chucky Cheese and the zoo.  He absolutely loved being the center of everyone’s attention.

Remy is currently wearing mostly 5T shirts, 4-5T pants and size 10 shoes.  He is obsessed with wearing shorts and hates pants.  Now that it’s fall he either whines or throws a tantrum when I tell him he has to wear pants.  I even had to hide all of his shorts from him.  Otherwise I’d turn my back for a second and he’d be back in shorts or have his pants rolled up.  Little stinker.

Remy and Ivan have been bonding a lot more lately.  Now that Ivan is getting older, Remy thinks he’s more fun.  They usually play pretty good together.  Remy bosses Ivan around and Ivan usually listens.  Ivan copies everything Remy does.  If Remy is in a bad mood he will certainly bug his brother and that ends in a fight.

Remy and Ivan both started a new daycare earlier this summer.  They are now in a daycare facility and they both have teachers and get to learn and make more friends.  This change has been good for Remy.  I think he was getting bored before.  Now there is more structure and more kids to play with.  Next year he will start pre-k!  I’m kind of glad he missed the cutoff.  I’m not ready for him to start school yet.

Remy started karate.  He is a very active boy so we thought karate would be a good choice.  He was really excited about it and then when we got there he got super nervous & timid.  I figured that would happen.  After being shy for the first 10 mins or so he finally got out there and had fun.  We’ve gone a few times now and he’s loving it.  Though he thinks he gets to earn a trophy already.

Remy’s current favorite foods: mac-n-cheese (Annies brand), pizza, most fruits, broccoli, tacos, waffles or pancakes, yogurt, ice cream, graham crackers.  His favorite color is orange.  He loves all things ninja turtles, super heros and legos.  He tends to take naps at daycare but it’s 50/50 that he’ll take a nap at home.  He loves to go “shopping” and always requests to go to Walmart or Target.

Remy is still daddy obsessed.  Everything Phil does, he wants to do.  He prefers daddy to take him to bed, daddy to do this, daddy to do that.  Every time something breaks he says, “it’s ok, daddy can fix it”.  I’m glad they have such a good bond.  Remy also loves his grandma Rita.  He gets super excited when he knows grandma is coming over.

Remy can sometimes be quite a handful.  That probably goes for all 4 year olds…  He’s quick to react meaning he can quickly turn from a good little boy to a brat in 2 seconds flat.  He’s usually pretty good but he’s always testing his boundaries and seeing what he can and cannot get away with.  He’s usually very shy when around new people or in new situations but generally doesn’t take too long to warm up.  He is definitely a follower.  He will go along with whatever the other boys are doing.

Every night when Remy goes to bed he likes to read a few books and then “talk about his day”.  This usually consists of him saying, “I had a good day, momma.  Did you have a good day?”  Then he’ll tell me everything he did that day.  Usually that consist of “I ate breakfast, played, I taked a nap, I played with Wyatt (his BFF at daycare), ate a snack, played with Ivan”.  Then after we talk about our day he requests to sing A LOT of songs.  Bedtime takes a while…

Some of my favorite photos of Remy over the last year :)

Knock Knees

So, in my previous post I had indicated that the doctor was concerned with Remy's legs bowing inward and referred us to a specialist.  On Friday he had his initial consult with an orthopedic specialist at Gillette's.  The doctor said it's known as knocked knee and that it's not uncommon.  She was a little worried because we've noticed it since he was about a year old and it has gotten worse.  Most kids will get it from ages 3-5.  She did an x-ray just to be sure there wasn't something to be concerned about and his growth plates and bones look great.  If it doesn't go away on its own we'll have to come back but she's confident he'll outgrow it.

Here's a nice embarrassing picture for Remy's graduation party.  He put his shirt on all by himself, however he put it on upside-down.  But it shows knocked-knees.

And the x-ray.  Remy saw it and said "hey, is that my butt?".  Bahahaha.  He was really nervous about getting an x-ray and wanted me to hold his hand the whole time.  Sweet boy still needs his momma.
