Army Crawl & Standing

Well, he’s not full blown crawling yet but he’s sure getting around!  Remy is now doing the “army crawl”.  He’s been doing this for about 2 weeks or so and is getting better at it and faster by the day.  I took a video of this cuteness but I can never seem to upload a video to my blog - it always fails for some reason.... Booooo.  Well, here's a picture of him standing by the window all by himself - another new favorite thing of his to do.  :)

Clogged Eye Duct

My poor little buddy has an infection in his eye.  He’s had a clogged eye duct since he was born and it hasn’t gone away yet.  His eye just tears up a lot and it’s not a big deal as long as it goes away around 9 months.  Lately it’s been goopy and the last few days it’s been red and yesterday morning it looked a little swollen too.  So I brought him to the doctor and she said he had an eye infection.  I feel so bad for him and wish I would have brought him in early.  So he’s on amoxicillin to clear up the infection and ointment for his eye to help the clogged eye duct go away.  If it’s not gone by his next appointment (9 mo) then he will be referred to an eye doctor to unclog the eye duct.  I really, really don’t want to make him go through that so hopefully it clears up.  He’s got 1 month until his next appointment!  But on a fun note they weighed him so I got to see how big he’s gotten in the last 2 months.  He’s now 20.2 pounds.  My big boy!

8 Months Old!

Remy turned 8 months last Sunday.  It still amazes me how much he changes in just one month.  Last month he was nowhere near crawling and wasn’t really moving around too much.  Now he loves to climb up on anything close by – a large/tall toy, the couch, and his personal favorite, me.  He also likes to stand with you holding his fingers for balance.  He LOVES to sit on his play mat in the living room and play, play, play.  Sometimes he’s content just playing with a few select toys and other times he feels the need to pull everything off the shelf that he can reach.  You can tell he’s like Phil because he likes to know how things work.  I’m sure he’ll start using the shelf to pull himself up soon.  He likes to go from sitting to his belly constantly but doesn’t know how to get back to the sitting position.  I can’t wait until he learns that!!!  Until then he whines until I put him back to the sitting position.  I’m sure my next month’s post he will be crawling or very close to crawling!

We’re still having some issues in the food department.  I think we have a picky eater on our hands.  Remy loves his pureed sweet potatoes and we’re trying to get him eating finger food so we tried to steam sweet potatoes and have him eat small bites himself.  Well, that didn’t go over well.  You would think he’d like them since it’s the same damn thing but nope.  I’m sure he just needs to get used to it so we’ll try it again and again until he eats but it’s annoying.  We’ve tried other stuff – corn, peas, carrots, green beans, cheerios, puffs, tomatoes, etc.  He will eat all of these but only a little bit, not enough for a meal.  After a while of “playing” with his food and shoving a few in his mouth he starts spitting them out and makes faces and refuses to eat anymore.  So we’re stickin to it and hoping he gets better at finger foods and more variety.

Remy is sure not hurting in the clothes department these days.  My mother-in-law came over the other day with 3 garbage bags full of boy clothes.  How she got them is a long story but now we’ve got tons of clothes from 12M-4T!  Some are used, some are brand new.  We went through them on Sunday and most of the stuff is the right size for the right seasons and most of the stuff I’ll keep.  SCORE!  Now I kind of wish I hadn’t gone hog wild at Once Upon a Child the other week.  Oh well, better to have too many clothes than not enough.  I’m sure I’ll go through everything and give some to friends if I have too much.

Rem is no longer in his infant carseat.  It’s been a few weeks since we’ve moved him.  He looked so huge in his infant seat and now he looks so tiny in his convertible seat!  I can’t wait until he’s big enough to move him forward facing.  I think he’d like it a lot better.  Now we need to buy another one for Phil’s car.  It’s too annoying to have to move it from car to car.

I know I should have done this a while ago but I just recently put away Remy’s infant tub.  For some reason this was emotional for me.  Now he’s taking baths in the “big boy tub” with all his toys.  He seems to like this much more and loves splashing the water.  We’re going on vacation in about a month so I’m excited to see if he likes being in the lake too.

I wonder if he’ll be crawling by the time I write his 9 month post!
