Favorite Word

Fact:

Remy’s new favorite word is “uh-oh”.  He says uh-oh when he drops something, uh-oh when he falls, uh-oh when he hits the dogs, uh-oh when he purposely spills his milk on the coffee table or does anything else naughty.  Haha the kid says it a million times a day.

I'd have to say his second favorite word is "hi".   He has to say hi to the dogs constantly and always says hi when Phil or I enter the room.  He even says it to strangers when out and about.  So cute.  :)

Easter

Easter was this past weekend and Remy was old enough to have some fun this year!  The night before we dyed Easter eggs.  He wanted to dunk his entire hands in the dye of course so he ended up with one yellow hand.  We let him decorate all the eggs with little eyeballs and mouth stickers.  He loved it.  And then of course he got to eat one.  :)

Easter morning we had some French toast and then I “hid” Remy’s eggs for an egg hunt which lead to his basket.  He actually did a lot better than I thought! I should have hid them better.  He had to shake every single egg to make sure there was something inside.  When he found his basket he got even more excited.  “Ooooo” he said.  He got some matchbox cars, a new book, a set of pajamas, some toys for the sandbox and a stuffed duck because he loves to say “quack, quack”.  After playing with his new toys we headed outside because it was gorgeous out!  Even at 9:30 in the morning it was t-shirt weather.  Just gorgeous.  Remy absolutely loves being outside.  The kid would stay outside all day if you let him.

Then after nap we headed over to grandma’s for Easter with Phil’s side.  I think there were 13 of us.  We all brought yummy food and had a potluck.  After we ate the kids went outside for another Easter egg hunt.  Remy rocked it!  He was finding egg after egg and even after they were all gone he kept on searching.  His basket was so full and heavy but he wouldn’t let anyone else hold it.  He had a ton of fun and scored lots of little goodies.  He absolutely loved the bubbles.  He didn’t understand the concept of blowing on the wand and having bubbles come out and kept wanting to stick it in his mouth so we blowed the bubbles for him.  He kept chasing after all the bubbles laughing up a storm.

Daddy Phase and Hostage Situation

Remy is going through a daddy phase right now.  He’s never really gone through a phase like this before.  I guess he usually prefers me to do stuff like put him to bed, brush his teeth, cuddle him when he’s sick, etc. but that’s probably because I usually do all that stuff for him anyways.  The last week or so he’s all about daddy. He gets more excited to see daddy, he wants to play with daddy and he wants daddy to put him to sleep.  I’m not going to lie, it kind of hurts my feelings.  Obviously it’s a phase and he doesn’t mean to hurt my feelings.  I know there will be days when he prefers Phil and days when he prefers me.  I’m just not used to this.  But I’m glad he loves his daddy so much too.  :)  I think Phil is enjoying this phase too much.  ;)

On another note, I found out where Remy is holding his socks hostage.

18 Month Stats

Remy had his 18 month checkup on Monday.  A little late…  He weighs 25.6lbs (70%), height is 33” (70%) and head circumference is 48cm (70%).  So Remy is 70% all around the board!  Doc said everything looks great and as long as we don’t get sick or anything he won’t be back until he’s 2 years old.

No post is complete without a picture.  Silly boy.  :)

18 Months Old!

Remy is 18 months old!  I just can’t believe how fast time is going by.  His check up is in a few weeks and he’ll be getting more shots but then he should be done until he's 2!  He’s quite the little man.  He’s a lot like me in some ways and a lot like Phil in others.  A) He looks exactly like Phil did at that age.  At least he has my blue eyes.  :)  B) He loves to see how things work and take things apart just like Phil.  Everything that has batteries that doesn’t require a screw driver to open he takes apart and pulls the batteries out.  So we have to take the batteries out of those toys unless we want to play with them and the remote goes up high.  He also has to figure out exactly how his toys work.  C) He’s impatient and stubborn like me.  He wants things done his way and quickly.  If he can’t figure something out he gets frustrated and throws said object.  I'm not exactly proud of this trait we both have.  D) He likes to dance and be silly like me.  Phil typically doesn’t like to make a fool out of himself but I’m all for it when it’s just Remy and I.  He’s got my dance moves.  By that I mean he has none.  Haha.  Sometimes he drops it low and it’s the most adorable thing on the planet.  But usually he just spins in circles and calls that dancing.  Still pretty darn cute.  E) He’s anal like me – things need to be done just right or placed in the correct spot just so.  He also has to have doors closed.  If they are not closed he will close them.  F) He’s a clean freak like both Phil and I.  Likes to wipe up messes, pick up crumbs, vacuum and mop.  This doesn't mean that our living room doesn't turn into a tornado aftermath zone.  He does like to make a mess too.  But he doesn't like to get his hands dirty.  G) He's a creature of routine like me.  He knows when he's supposed to go to bed, wake up, eat breakfast, watch Curious George, play, etc.  He doesn't like when things don't happen when they are supposed to.  This morning I had to wake him up early to leave due to the snow and he didn't get to watch most of Curious George and leisurely wake up so he wasn't happy about that.  H) He’s not into cuddling like me.  The only time he cuddles is when he wakes up in the morning, after his nap, when he’s really sick or if he’s just plum tuckered out.  Otherwise he’s go, go, go.

Remy is currently getting over strep.  He had a cold for about a week and it wasn’t a very bad one but then got a nasty fever that wouldn’t go away and we took him to the doc.  She did a strep test and was positive.  So the poor little guy has had a rough week.  I thought he was feeling better yesterday but he spent the night coughing up a storm and couldn’t seem to sleep.  Hopefully he’s back to normal in no time.  I hate seeing little ones sick.  At least we're on the upswing now.

I'm not quite sure where Remy is on the percentiles these days but he seems like he's right on par wearing mostly 18 month clothes, some 24 month.  We just bought him the cutest rain boots and he adores them.  I caught him putting his rain boots on the wrong feet the other day OVER his footy pajamas.  So cute.  He was pissed at me when I took them off to put them on the right feet.  Kid has to have things his way.

I can't wait for all the things we can do this summer.  Now that he's walking and started talking he will enjoy the outdoors a lot more than last summer.  He didn't start walking until October and winter came right after that so he hasn't been outside much since then.  I'm excited to see him run around in the grass with his bare feet and chubby thighs and arms out.  :):)

Remy is getting quite chatty these days.  He attempts to copy every word we ask him to say but if he doesn't know how to say it it always comes out as "dah-dah".  Current words that he can say: banana, Remy (his personal favorite), dada, mama, bye-bye, hi, juice, boobies (thanks to daddy), oh wow, please, grandma.... there are more but I just can't think of them all.  Animals sounds he knows for sure are: cow, duck, doggie, cat, pig (sometimes).

When people come over (which doesn't happen all that often) Remy has to bring out pretty much every single toy he owns to show them all off.  Justen and Ashley were over the over night and he pulled out every toy and gave them to Justen and showed him how they work.  Within seconds he was on to the next toy.

Remy loves bath time, playing with the dogs, dancing, figuring out new toys, being outside when it's nice out, eating food (mac-n-cheese, fish sticks, brats or hot dogs, spaghetti, citrus fruits and most condiments are among his favorites), then throwing food to the dogs, walking on his own, being independent, sleeping on his tummy, sleeping with puppy, moose AND monkey (must have all three).

Remy currently dislikes being held down or forced to sit in your lap or be held when he wants to be free, dislikes many forms of potatoes, going into time-out (what child doesn't), or being baby gated in our living room if we aren't in there with him.
