My poor little buddy has an infection in his eye. He’s had a clogged eye duct since he was born
and it hasn’t gone away yet. His eye
just tears up a lot and it’s not a big deal as long as it goes away around 9
months. Lately it’s been goopy and the
last few days it’s been red and yesterday morning it looked a little swollen
too. So I brought him to the doctor and
she said he had an eye infection. I feel
so bad for him and wish I would have brought him in early. So he’s on amoxicillin to clear up the
infection and ointment for his eye to help the clogged eye duct go away. If it’s not gone by his next appointment (9
mo) then he will be referred to an eye doctor to unclog the eye duct. I really, really don’t want to make him go
through that so hopefully it clears up.
He’s got 1 month until his next appointment! But on a fun note they weighed him so I got
to see how big he’s gotten in the last 2 months. He’s now 20.2 pounds. My big boy!

8 Months Old!
Remy
turned 8 months last Sunday. It still
amazes me how much he changes in just one month. Last month he was nowhere near crawling and
wasn’t really moving around too much.
Now he loves to climb up on anything close by – a large/tall toy, the
couch, and his personal favorite, me. He
also likes to stand with you holding his fingers for balance. He LOVES to sit on his play mat in the living
room and play, play, play. Sometimes
he’s content just playing with a few select toys and other times he feels the
need to pull everything off the shelf that he can reach. You can tell he’s like Phil because he likes
to know how things work. I’m sure he’ll
start using the shelf to pull himself up soon.
He likes to go from sitting to his belly constantly but doesn’t know how
to get back to the sitting position. I
can’t wait until he learns that!!! Until
then he whines until I put him back to the sitting position. I’m sure my next month’s post he will be
crawling or very close to crawling!
We’re
still having some issues in the food department. I think we have a picky eater on our
hands. Remy loves his pureed sweet
potatoes and we’re trying to get him eating finger food so we tried to steam
sweet potatoes and have him eat small bites himself. Well, that didn’t go over well. You would think he’d like them since it’s the
same damn thing but nope. I’m sure he
just needs to get used to it so we’ll try it again and again until he eats but
it’s annoying. We’ve tried other stuff –
corn, peas, carrots, green beans, cheerios, puffs, tomatoes, etc. He will eat all of these but only a little
bit, not enough for a meal. After a
while of “playing” with his food and shoving a few in his mouth he starts
spitting them out and makes faces and refuses to eat anymore. So we’re stickin to it and hoping he gets
better at finger foods and more variety.
Remy
is sure not hurting in the clothes department these days. My mother-in-law came over the other day with
3 garbage bags full of boy clothes. How
she got them is a long story but now we’ve got tons of clothes from
12M-4T! Some are used, some are brand
new. We went through them on Sunday and
most of the stuff is the right size for the right seasons and most of the stuff
I’ll keep. SCORE! Now I kind of wish I hadn’t gone hog wild at
Once Upon a Child the other week. Oh
well, better to have too many clothes than not enough. I’m sure I’ll go through everything and give
some to friends if I have too much.
Rem
is no longer in his infant carseat. It’s
been a few weeks since we’ve moved him.
He looked so huge in his infant seat and now he looks so tiny in his
convertible seat! I can’t wait until
he’s big enough to move him forward facing.
I think he’d like it a lot better.
Now we need to buy another one for Phil’s car. It’s too annoying to have to move it from car
to car.
I
know I should have done this a while ago but I just recently put away Remy’s
infant tub. For some reason this was
emotional for me. Now he’s taking baths
in the “big boy tub” with all his toys.
He seems to like this much more and loves splashing the water. We’re going on vacation in about a month so
I’m excited to see if he likes being in the lake too.
I
wonder if he’ll be crawling by the time I write his 9 month post!

This & That
Remy had a busy weekend.
Friday his auntie Jewells volunteered to watch him so the hubby and I could
go on a date. It was so nice of
her!!!! We really needed that. So Phil and I went out for dinner and then
went to see Iron Man 3 while Rem hung out with his cousins.
Saturday morning I took Remy to his first parade. It was Syttende Mai Days in good ol
Woodville. It was pouring rain all
morning so I wasn’t even sure if we’d be able to go. It finally stopped raining around noon so we
decided to go! The rain cleared up
really fast and then it got super hot and muggy outside. Remy was pretty “eh” about the whole
experience. He didn’t seem to care. It maybe was partly because he was tired
since he hadn’t really napped before the parade. Either way, I don’t think he would have cared
too much. He does like to people watch
though. Maybe next year he’ll have more
fun.
Remy very ho-hum about the whole parade business.
Sunday we were out and about most of the day running
errands. It’s so nice to have Remy eating
less often, be able to sit in shopping carts and highchairs in restaurants. Makes it much easier to take him places. Now that he’s easier to cart around these
days we go out and about a lot more often!
Plus the fact that it’s finally spring time and not freezing anymore…
Remy also tried “finger food” for the first time the other
day. Well, he’s been eating puffs and
cherrios for a few weeks now but we tried a real meal of cooked carrots and
green beans the other day and he did ok.
He knows he needs to pick them up and put them in his mouth but isn’t
too excited about it. I think he enjoyed
grabbing little pieces more than eating because he didn’t eat a whole lot. Oh well, that was attempt number one and I’m
sure he’ll like it more and more as he gets used to it. Next we need to get him drinking out of a
sippy cup!
Spoiled much? And this is definitely not all of his toys. He prefers to sit and have all of them surrounding him. He likes to play with all of them. He picks one up, plays with it for a minute or two, then sees something better and goes for it.

Remy's 6 Month Pics!
Here are Remy's 6 month pictures. They turned out absolutely adorable. I just love those little teeth and how his hair sticks straight up in the back! Oh he's just soooo cute! :) Shout out to my friend, Jess Arco who took his pictures again. She's an awesome photographer!

7 Months Old!
Whoops, I forgot to write Remy’s 7 month blog!! Remy turned 7 months last Thursday. It’s amazing how many things change and how
much he learns in just one month! Remy
is now eating a lot more variety. He
still loves his sweet potatoes and bananas and now he eats carrots, oatmeal,
pears, avocados and puffs (we still need to try lots more). I feel like we’ve tried more but I can’t
remember what atm. He still hates
applesauce and green beans. We
introduced the puffs a few days ago and he loves them. The first day he didn’t understand that he
needed to pick them up and put them in his mouth – he thought we would do all the
work for him. Now he can pick them up
and stick them right in his mouth! Ever
since he learned that trick you can tell he’s been wanting to feed himself his
own breakfast and supper. I think we’ll
start chopping up cooked fruits and veggies real small and letting him feed
himself. I think he’d really prefer that
now. But we have a freezer full of pureed
food for him to eat first!
Now that Remy sits up on his own he prefers to sit by
himself. He isn’t fond of being on his
back or belly anymore and he’d rather sit than be in his exosaucer. His swing is put away – he hasn’t used that
thing in months and he’ll tolerate his bouncer when he’s downstairs with Phil
but I don’t think he likes that anymore either.
He doesn’t like to sit back. He
wants to sit up so he can play and see what’s going on. He’s not a “baby” anymore! *Tear*
He also likes the bigger “more fun” toys but he sometimes gets
frustrated with them. He’s also at the
stage where he wants to play with a certain toy and if it gets away from him he
gets pissed. He also gets pissed if he
sees my phone or something else he can’t have.
You can no longer just put a different toy in front of him for him to
forget about it! He knows you hid the “thing
he can’t have” and he still wants it. So
it’s best to just keep those items out of his eye sight for now. Haha.
Remy is also getting really good at copying what we do. If I make a funny face or stick my tongue out
he tries to copy. I’ve also taught him
how to clap his hands. It’s the cutest
thing! No crawling yet (thank god, I’m
not ready).
I went through his clothes again this weekend to put more
away that no longer fit. Now that we’re
doing cloth diapers the pants and onsies that barely fit him are now definitely
not fitting. Cloth diapers makes his
toosh bigger so he needed to go up a size.
I got all weepy looking at his newborn clothes. I should duck tape that bin shut and not be
allowed to go through it again until the next baby comes along… So now he’s mostly in 9 month and some 12
month.
It was nice again this last weekend so we went on a few
walks, sat on the deck a lot and went to Hudson and took his daddy out for
lunch. We also ordered a convertible car
seat because he’s bursting out of his infant one and I figured since he’s
sitting up on his own now it’s time to move him up. We got it in the mail on Friday and it has a
little bit of purple in it. Huge bummer….
I went back and looked at the pictures online and I see no purple from the
pics! I was irked. So, it’s not entirely girly but too much for
my taste and it would bother me so we decided to return it. So after we took Phil out for lunch Rem and I
headed to Babies R Us and returned it.
We’ll have his new one here soon.
I can’t wait to stop hauling him around in his infant seat!
Next weekend is Mother’s Day and I can’t wait to spend the
day with my family! I’m hoping the
weather will be nice because I want to take Remy to the zoo. If the weather sucks we’ll probably go to the
MOA just to get out of the house and do something fun.
Remy is generally in a very good mood but he's still cute when he's crabby. I told him that if he turns his mood around and stops being a crab butt I wouldn't post this picture of him. Obviously he stayed cranky. :)
