8 Months Old!

Remy turned 8 months last Sunday.  It still amazes me how much he changes in just one month.  Last month he was nowhere near crawling and wasn’t really moving around too much.  Now he loves to climb up on anything close by – a large/tall toy, the couch, and his personal favorite, me.  He also likes to stand with you holding his fingers for balance.  He LOVES to sit on his play mat in the living room and play, play, play.  Sometimes he’s content just playing with a few select toys and other times he feels the need to pull everything off the shelf that he can reach.  You can tell he’s like Phil because he likes to know how things work.  I’m sure he’ll start using the shelf to pull himself up soon.  He likes to go from sitting to his belly constantly but doesn’t know how to get back to the sitting position.  I can’t wait until he learns that!!!  Until then he whines until I put him back to the sitting position.  I’m sure my next month’s post he will be crawling or very close to crawling!

We’re still having some issues in the food department.  I think we have a picky eater on our hands.  Remy loves his pureed sweet potatoes and we’re trying to get him eating finger food so we tried to steam sweet potatoes and have him eat small bites himself.  Well, that didn’t go over well.  You would think he’d like them since it’s the same damn thing but nope.  I’m sure he just needs to get used to it so we’ll try it again and again until he eats but it’s annoying.  We’ve tried other stuff – corn, peas, carrots, green beans, cheerios, puffs, tomatoes, etc.  He will eat all of these but only a little bit, not enough for a meal.  After a while of “playing” with his food and shoving a few in his mouth he starts spitting them out and makes faces and refuses to eat anymore.  So we’re stickin to it and hoping he gets better at finger foods and more variety.

Remy is sure not hurting in the clothes department these days.  My mother-in-law came over the other day with 3 garbage bags full of boy clothes.  How she got them is a long story but now we’ve got tons of clothes from 12M-4T!  Some are used, some are brand new.  We went through them on Sunday and most of the stuff is the right size for the right seasons and most of the stuff I’ll keep.  SCORE!  Now I kind of wish I hadn’t gone hog wild at Once Upon a Child the other week.  Oh well, better to have too many clothes than not enough.  I’m sure I’ll go through everything and give some to friends if I have too much.

Rem is no longer in his infant carseat.  It’s been a few weeks since we’ve moved him.  He looked so huge in his infant seat and now he looks so tiny in his convertible seat!  I can’t wait until he’s big enough to move him forward facing.  I think he’d like it a lot better.  Now we need to buy another one for Phil’s car.  It’s too annoying to have to move it from car to car.

I know I should have done this a while ago but I just recently put away Remy’s infant tub.  For some reason this was emotional for me.  Now he’s taking baths in the “big boy tub” with all his toys.  He seems to like this much more and loves splashing the water.  We’re going on vacation in about a month so I’m excited to see if he likes being in the lake too.

I wonder if he’ll be crawling by the time I write his 9 month post!

5 Months!

Yesterday my boy turned 5 months old.  I can't believe he'll be 6 months old in a month.  Crazy how time flies.  I'm trying to take advantage of this stage as long as possible since I know it doesn't last long.

Remy is now a busy body and wants to play play play.  It's not very often that I get to cuddle with him anymore.  Oh how I miss him falling asleep on my shoulder.  I also miss breastfeeding.  Who would have thought I'd actually enjoy it but I do.  The only time I get to feed him is when he wakes up for his 2-3 a.m. feeding.  All other feedings I've attempted to nurse him he bites me.  So I've pretty much given that up.  Trust me, if your baby had 3 razor sharp teeth and bit you each time you tried to nurse him, you'd give it up too.  Sad...

I also went through his "too small" bin to organize it since it was overflowing and I got weepy seeing clothes that he used to fit in.  I don't remember him being that small!!!  I also saw clothes that he never even got to wear because they were not the right season.  Oh how sad, they were so cute.  Hopefully the next one can fit into them if I have a boy or I'll give them to one of my future nephews.

Remy is definitely loving his sweet potatoes at night.  At first he was only eating an ounce and last night I gave him 2 ounces and he wanted more.  So I think it's time to have him eating solids in the morning as well.  This morning we attempted to make our own oatmeal.  He did NOT like oatmeal!  I think it was the texture.  Maybe I'll try apples next and go back to oatmeal a different day.

Remy is officially rolling over!  He's been rolling from his tummy to his back for a while now but the other day he rolled from his back to his tummy!  He got his arm stuck underneath him but he was flat on his tummy.  Then today he rolled over without getting his arm stuck!  Yay Remy!  I haven't caught it on camera yet.  He'll do it twice in a row and then I break out the camera and he's done.  That always happens.

Today I put him in the cutest outfit that reminds me so much of my dad because my dad loved Harleys.  I'm sure if my dad were here today he would have bought him something just like it!  He would have been proud.  Half way through the day Remy decided to have the LARGEST blowout of his life all over it.  It was seriously the worst one yet.  He got it everywhere - on his exocauser, me, his feet to the top of his head, etc, etc.  Long story short, it took both Phil and I and the shower head then a bath to get him cleaned up.  Silly boy.

Mowhawk?

Growth & Hair Loss

My boy seems to be growing like a weed!  He is going through his clothes like crazy.  I will put an outfit on him that fit him a week ago and now it's almost too small or doesn't fit at all!  His bin of clothes that he's already outgrown is getting more and more full.  He's growing too fast and time is going by too fast!!  Part of me feels like it was just yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital and part of me feels like he's always been here.

Remy has been slowly loosing his hair but I just noticed the other day that a ton has fallen out.  Pretty soon he is going to look like his daddy and be a baldy!

Remy going bald:

Daddy already bald (sorry, not bald - "thinning" and "receding" ;))
