Underwater World

So this weekend we ventured out of the house and took Remy to underwater world at the MOA.  Holy crap is it expensive.  Thankfully Remy was free since he’s under two but $50 for Phil and I was outrageous!  My god.  But we didn’t venture all the way to the MOA to go shopping.  I guess you gotta spend money sometimes for your kids to see something cool.  Remy loved it.  He kept saying “oooooooo” or “wowwww” and pointing at all the fish.  I think he liked the jellyfish the most.  He almost seemed scared or nervous of the sharks and big fish at first but ended up liking them.  However, half way through we noticed his pants were wet.  Damn disposables.  Thought it would be “easier” to stick him in a disposable while at the mall.  Nope and he wasn’t even in it for more than an hour and a half.  Wouldn’t have had that kind of a leak with a cloth!  Nope, nope, nope.  So we kind of had to rush the last half and by the time we changed his butt he was starving and then exhausted so we couldn’t go through again.  I’m glad it’s finally starting to get nice outside.  I’m excited to take him more places, especially the beach.  :)

What's Remy up to these days?

Man alive this kid is starting to chit chat his heart away!  Everyday he is trying out new words and getting more and more vocal.  If he's in the right mood he will try to copy whatever word you ask him to copy.  Here are some words I've heard him say pretty clearly: banana, juice, move, diaper, uh-oh, oh man, yes.  And his animal sounds are getting better and better!  He can make moo, monkey, doggy and piggy (his version of oink) sounds.  And of course we taught him "what does a fox say?".  Hehehe toooooo darn cute!  He's also doing much better at his sign language.  He's always been good at please (probably because he knows he's going to get what he wants when he signs it) and now he's much much better at thank you, more and all done.  Now were trying to teach him pew and poop.  Haha.  Gosh, teaching toddlers things is so much fun!  He's also giving high fives and fist bumps.

He was so tuckered out that he accidentally fell asleep before lunchtime!  I had to wake the poor child up seconds later because it wasn't naptime yet.

Remy has also become quite attached to his "puppy".  We just took a trip to Ikea over the weekend to buy him a spare.  I've been bringing his puppy to daycare so he can have it during the day and at mostly for nap time and have almost forgotten it on a few occasions!  So I'd rather have a spare for when I forget.  ;)

Remy started at a new daycare today.  He's been going to a good friend of mine since he was 3 months old.  She's about to give birth to her 3rd so Remy is going somewhere else for her maternity leave.  I'm a little nervous just because he's never been to anyone's house besides hers without me.  I know the gal he's going to is great with kids - I'm just worried about him adjusting and giving her a hard time.  But he'll get to make new friends.  :)  When I dropped him off this morning he went straight to playing with the toys and didn't give two hoots when I left.  Guess that's a good sign.

We've recently started giving Remy time-outs when he's naughty.  Sometimes he thinks its funny, other times he isn't so thrilled about it.  When he knows he's naughty all I have to say is "get in time out" and he'll walk himself over to the corner and put his head in the corner.  I have to try not to laugh out loud.  After he's excused he gives me a hug and a kiss.  :)  Can't stay mad at him for long...

FYI - I don't ever have to dust my coffee table.

15 Months Old!

Well, I know I said there would be no "? months old" posts until he hit 18 months but I lied.  Apparently I was unaware that there was a 15 month check-up.  Luckily I caught it in the nick of time and he was only about a week and a half past due.  This was the first check up where they had him stand on the scale.  He weighed 24.6lbs (86%), height was 31.5 (65%) and his head circumference was 47.5 cm (72%).  These are not the percentiles that the doc gave me - I forgot what they were so I had to look them up.  I'm assuming they are somewhat accurate.  My tall string bean slowed down on his height and chunked up a little more (mostly in his pot belly).  His doc said that's normal - one check up their weight goes way up but their height only goes up a little and then the next check up they maybe get much taller but their weight doesn't go up much.  She said he's growing perfectly and everything looks great!

New favorite thing to do is play with his squeaky toy and the dogs.  He squeaks it and Vader and Winston run after him trying to get it.  He thinks its HILARIOUS!

Remy has started placing his cars in different places.  He will pick up every single car he can find one by one and put them wherever he decides... the couch, in his car, etc.  Boys and their cars.

Brain Power!

It’s amazing how one day you look at your kid and say, “where the heck did you learn that?  You weren’t able to do it yesterday!”  They learn sooo much and so fast!  Remy has been saying a few words for a little while now – mamma, dada, juice, bye-bye, yes, etc.  Lately it seems like he’s getting more clear and he’s picking up on more words.  Time to really start watching my mouth around him!  And I suppose I should stop telling the dogs to “shut up”!  I wouldn't want him telling me to shut up...  

He’s also trying to mimic animal sounds.  The first one he learned was the monkey – he’s been doing that for a while.  This weekend I got him to moo and he tries his darnedest to say oink, oink, oink.  His version is pretty darn cute.   

He has also picked up a little bit of sign language.  His auntie/daycare lady was doing it with her little one so he was learning it there and we started it at home as well.  He knows how to say please and does it constantly (every time he wants something) – he’s not very good on thank you yet but I can squeeze it out of him sometimes.  We’re still working on “more” and “all done” – doesn’t seem like he’s picking up on those.  Wonder what else I should teach him….  All this learning is so fun to watch. :)

Christmas Time!

My poor Remy was sick over Christmas – puking all over the place.  But did that slow him down?  Nope.  He was still going a million miles per hour.  Well, maybe he slowed down a little… but not much.  He was still a happy camper despite the ugly bug he had.  Last year he obviously didn’t participate in opening presents, he was only 12 weeks old.  But this year he loved opening the presents!!  It was so cute.  It didn’t take him long to realize that ripping wrapping paper off something meant there was something fun inside.  Remy got lots of fun things this year from “Santa”, momma and daddy, his grandmas, aunties & uncles, etc.  His favorite seems to be his new batman mobile and his elephant that blows balls out of his trunk.  He is one lucky kid to have so much love surrounding him!  I of course neglected to take many photos.  I always regret that… Here's a few that I took.

Where's your belly button?

Well, the first body part Remy has learned is a belly button!  He's all about lifting up everyone's shirts and pointing at your belly button.  Mine isn't as attractive as it used to be (thanks to Remy) so he finds it funny to poke and squish.  I ask him where his belly button is and he pulls up his shirt and pokes it.  So darn cute!
